Yesterday I showed you some options for eco-friendly (and fabulous) kitchen backsplashes made from recycled ceramic, glass and metal. But if you are not able to spend money on new materials, what else could be used for backsplashes that would be sustainable and still look great? I started thinking and searching, and found some great examples of backsplashes made from leftover or recycled materials that can be found at scrap yards (or your neighbor's garbage after they've just done the pricey reno). With a little elbow grease and ingenuity, you could make your kitchen green, unique and spectacular! You'll be the envy of the block.
Check out these examples using old bricks, back-painted glass, leftover floor tiles, reclaimed wood, cork and scrap wood used to create a beadboard look.
I especially love the whitewashed brick and the beadboard look. What about you?
