mid-century modern dining room reveal

I live in a rented condo with a small dining area opening onto the kitchen. Not a big canvas to work with, but a blank one, with two beige walls and a not-so-lovely hanging chandelier. Here is the before picture:

I love the clean, simple designs of mid-century furniture, and after months of searching found an amazing vintage teak credenza and Danish rosewood dining chairs. I recovered the chair seats and paired them with a fantastic knock-off Saarinen tulip table that I got at a fantastic knock-off price.

Unfortunately, I couldn't do anything about the linoleum floors, but the walls I could get creative with.  I wallpapered one wall behind the credenza in strippable wallpaper that I can remove easily when I outta here. I  changed out the chandelier for an updated drum shade, and added art through a vintage poster and a piece of my own design (details here).

Much better than the boring little square area I started with, and it adds some much-needed personality to my little condo!

  3. Love that teak sideboard Kelly.
And the table was a great find. I agree with Linda....tough look to pull off while making it look modern...not just mid-century. But you did it really, really well :)
